Let me tell you all that is involved with Team Roping. Heading, heeling, handling cattle, dallying, scoring, left hand, right hand, horsemanship. Oh, don’t forget whining, disappointing your partner, your partner disappointing you, and the crying. Oh, yeah…all the phrases like; I caught him while he was running free, roping bones, and hawking down. On a more serious note, I love team roping. However, there is a lot involved when it comes to team roping.

If you are just starting out, I would recommend a team roping school. A team roping school can start you out with many of the basics, right off the bat. It is important to find the right instructor for your team roping school. Find an instructor that you want to learn from and that you can be open minded towards them. Another important thing is to make sure that they know what they are talking about. Check their background, their successes, and failures. Do your homework. Team roping is a great sport and it is a great opportunity to learn how to do it. Heading in my opinion is great because it’s easier. However, heeling is awesome. Nevertheless, it is difficult, frustrating, and very hard to master.
